Jesus is the Word of God

Did you know that Jesus is the actual embodiment of the Word of God and God’s word is truth?  If you want to know, at the very core, what love is-Just look at Jesus.  How better of a way for God to show his love, to communicate his love to us, then to send His only begotten Son to Earth.  God was speaking to humanity when He sent His Son to Earth to teach, guide, and ultimately die for our sins on the cross. He was telling you, and everyone else in the world that He loves them.

The Bible tells us in John 15:13 that:

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”

Jesus was sent to Earth by God to do that very thing, to lay down His life for his friends. There is no love greater than that.  When Jesus bore our sins on the cross, that was God telling the World that He loves us and wants to restore the relationship with humanity that was separated because of sin.  God’s Word is the greatest love letter ever written. A love letter from God, the creator of heaven, earth, and humanity. He loves us and by sending his Son, Jesus Christ, to Earth to face the torment and death that He faced on the cross, He made His love for us abundantly clear.

To get a better understanding of how Jesus is the Word of God, take a look at John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.”

The Bible tells us that Jesus Christ, who is the Son of God, is the actual Word of God made flesh. Jesus is the very Word of God and His words are full of the grace and truth of God because He is God.  That might be a little hard for us to wrap our human minds around, but if God can speak life and creation into existence then He can very well send his Word to humanity in the form of his only Son, Jesus Christ.  God is amazing and can accomplish anything.

Jesus is the Truth Therefore God’s Word is Truth

God’s Word is Truth because Jesus is Truth and Jesus is the embodiment of the Word of God.  In John 14:16 the Bible tells us that

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:  no man cometh until the Father, but by me.

Those are amazing words, full of truth, hope, and grace.

How is Jesus the way?

It is through our faith in Jesus Christ that we are saved and forgiven of our sins.  Sin separates us from the Holy God but our salvation in Jesus Christ restores us to the Father.

How is Jesus the Truth?

Truth isn’t just facts or the opposite of lies, the truth is life changing.  It breaks through every imagination and has the power to shake you to the core.  Jesus is the very Word of God, which is the perfect truth.

How is Jesus the life?

Sin has separated all of humanity from God and from eternal life.  We all must die someday unless Jesus returns before then, but there is a death of the body and there is a death of the spirit.  The death of the spirit is eternal separation from God which we all face unless we have received salvation. Our salvation is through our faith in Jesus Christ, believing that he is the Son of God and that he did die on the cross for our sins.  Through that faith in Jesus, our relationship with God will be restored and we will have eternal life.

His Word is Forever

God’s Word is forever and is unchanging.  He is the same today, yesterday and forever.  In Psalm 119:160, the Bible tells us that

The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.”

That means that we can’t cherry-pick what parts of God’s Word we want to believe and what we don’t want to believe, it is all true. This also means that it doesn’t matter if we believe it or not, it is still true.  God’s Word does not depend on us and our beliefs, it would still be true if nobody in the world believed it.

The lies of this world will never stop the truth of God.  The devil will offer you the world if he thinks it will keep you from God.  Fortune, love interests, and power-But with God, you have so much more than that.  A lot of people try to fill their lives with those things because they feel so unfulfilled.  However, nothing that this world has to offer is going to make you feel whole. We can take one look at the rich and famous in Hollywood and can easily see that what the world offers are sorrow and heartache.

God’s truth is the one constant thing that we can always count on.  If you have ever been disappointed by a loved one or a family member then you know what I am talking about.  Perhaps you had been looking forward to hanging out with a friend and at the last minute, they bail on you. Or perhaps you are going through a very rough time and need some help or lifting up and it seems like nobody is around.  God is there for you and He will always be there for you. Jesus is a friend that will stick closer to you than a brother. No matter what you are going through and no matter what you need, God already knows your need and can supply it.

Having a consistent prayer life is so important.  In today’s busy world it is so easy to get distracted and pulled into a hundred different directions.  Especially with our mobile phones that keep us constantly connected to everything going on in the world.  I mean, do you really need to know what your friend from fifth grade that you haven’t talked to in seven years is having for dinner?  Let me answer that for you, no you do not. Make time for prayer. Turn off your phone, find a place that is quiet and relaxing, and spend time with God.  It doesn’t have to be for hours but a dedicated time every day will make a world of difference.

All His Commandments are Sure

All of God’s commandments are sure.  What does that even mean? It means God’s word is truth and  all that He tells us in His Word is true.  How he tells us to act, how we should treat other people, how we should treat ourselves.  All of it is true. Love your neighbor as yourself, how could anyone argue with that? You can’t, because God’s Word is true and, in our soul, we know it is true and we know it is for our good.  For example, Philippians 4:8 tells us to think on what is true, honorable, just and pure. There is a reason God wants us to think about those things. It keeps us from worrying, it keeps us from doing something we shouldn’t be doing, and ultimately it keeps us from being hurt.

God’s commandments have stood the test of time.  They are just as prevalent today as they were thousands of years ago.  The world changes at an exceedingly fast pace as time seems to fly by, but God never changes, and His word never changes.  Because His word is righteous, we can trust that it will see us through. As times change and the world changes you can trust that God’s Word is just as relevant and never changing.  So, no matter what you face you can turn to God’s Word for answers and guidance.

God is Not a Liar so God’s Word is Truth

God is truth and truth is the very opposite of lies.  God cannot lie and has never lied. Scholars have been studying the Bible for over a thousand years now and not once has God been proven to be a liar.  His Word is true and so is He. We can trust the promises that He makes to us. Jesus said that when He left, He would send us a comforter which is the Holy Ghost.  He did not leave us alone on this planet to make it on our own. You can trust that if you are saved through faith in Jesus Christ that the Holy Ghost is with you, to comfort and guide you.

Summary

There are 5 amazing reasons why God’s Word is Truth.  We know that Jesus is the Word of God and that he has been with God since the very beginning.  We know that Jesus is the Truth, and that through our faith in Him are we saved. God’s Word is eternal, it is just as relevant today as it has ever been.  All of God’s commandments are sure, we can trust and follow them today because we love Him. And we know that God is not a liar and has never been. We can put our trust in God because we know that God’s Word is Truth.
